Oh! I have slipped the surly bonds of earth
And danced the skies on laughter-silvered wings;
Sunward I've climbed, and joined the tumbling mirth
Of sun-split clouds - and done a hundred things
You have not dreamed of - wheeled and soared and swung
High in the sunlit silence. Hov'ring there,
I've chased the shouting wind along, and flung
My eager craft through footless halls of air.
Up, up the long, delirious, burning blue
I've topped the wind-swept heights with easy grace
Where never lark, or even eagle flew -
And, while with silent lifting mind I've trod
The high untrespassed sanctity of space,
Put out my hand and touched the face of God.

Welcome to the 56th Fighter Group's Home Page.
We are a group of online enthusiast who specialize in flying the P47
Thunderbolt in Hitech Creations flight simulator Aces
High.
Our Group was created in early 2001, and was based
on the 56th Fighter Group which proudly served during World War
II. Commanded by Col. "Hub" Zemke. The 56th was the
only Fighter Group to fly the "Jug" from the beginning
to the end of the war, and had the most fighter aces of the Eigth
Air Force.
This site contains information on both the
Virtual and Historical 56th Fighter Group. The Virtual Section contains
information about our group in AcesHigh, while the Historical contains
a wealth of information on the original 56th and the planes they flew.
Our
mission is to honor these men and keep their memory alive. They flew
in harms way, and some gave the ultimate sacrifice so we may all live
in a safer world. God bless the men of the 56th Fighter Group, Salute.
